Finalistes 2017

Kleio Obergfell-Thomaïdes

Kleio Obergfell-Thomaïdes lives and works in Geneva. In 2008, she embarked on studies in anthropology and political science at the University of Lyon 2. She then undertook studies in Visual Arts, option Information/Fiction at HEAD-Geneva. She obtained a Bachelor in 2015, then a Master in June 2017.

Territoire, 2015

The Territoire series is a work on a community living in a "Wagenplatz", a space occupied and furnished by a group of people living in trailers or trucks. This semi-urban community bears witness to a lifestyle choice that is in between a social, cultural and spatial network. Based on the principle of recovery, it is housed through the recycling of materials, of objects found or harvested, and creates from existing objects diverted from their original functions.

This work is interested in the question of the urban territory and its mode of appropriation by the individuals who occupy it: in what way the individual inhabits a space and how, by appropriating it, it transforms it into a political relationship and in creative space. The notion of diversion becomes crucial here; the deviation from established norms, the system and forms of life.
