Finalist 2017

Leslie Moquin

Born in 1986, Leslie Moquin studied International Relations at the Sorbonne before entering the ENSP from which she graduated in 2013. Following a creation residency with the Alliance française in Bogota, she continued a project from 2016 to 2017 on the universe of soundsystems in Colombia.

Hasta Abajo !, 2016-2017

From Cartagena to Barranquilla, the “Picòs” roar in the popular districts of the Colombian Caribbean. Monumental, exultant, these soundsystems are the totems of the evenings where you come to dance to the sound of "Champeta" - a musical genre born in the 1970s, a fusion of Caribbean sounds and West African music. The "Picòs" are totems of a true Afro-Caribbean counter-culture endowed with its history and its musical or aesthetic codes. In its wake, it is the richness of the cultural mix of this region that is outlined.
